Mahindra Humanities Center Seminar in Book History
abstract: "In 1995, the UNESCO decided that World Book and Copyright Day would be celebrated every year on April 23rd because it is on this date that Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. This lecture will examine various encounters between Cervantes and Shakespeare by looking at their last words, by following their meeting in Valladolid imagined by Anthony Burgess and by tracing the presence of Don Quixote in England between 1605 and 1653".
