# PORTUGUESE 184 - Literature of Colonial Brazil Semester: Spring | Year offered: 2026 This course studies the literature of colonial Brazil. We will consider how texts and writing participate in empire and colonialism, and explore a range of primary texts that engage with the lands, resources, peoples, and legends of Brazil. We will also scrutinize the rhetorical strategies and implicit ideologies embedded in these writings. In our studies we will also consider relevant theoretical writings on early modern empire and Brazil.
