Ann Goldstein on the Pleasure of Translating and Interpreting

Join us for the presentation of Ann Goldstein's latest translation of Elena Ferrante, In the Margins. Goldstein has translated into English all of Elena Ferrante’s books, including the New York Times bestseller, The Story of the Lost Child, which was shortlisted for the Booker International Prize. She is the translator of many prominent Italian authors, including: Amara Lakhous, Elsa Morante, Alessandro Baricco, Alessandro Piperno, Giacomo Leopardi, and Primo Levi. She will be in conversation with Europa Edition's Editor, Michael Reynolds, and Chiara Trebaiocchi, Preceptor and Coordinator of the Italian Language Program, to discuss Ann's career and development as a translator, her approach to literary texts, in particular in relation to her Ferrante's translations. The conversation will be followed by Q&A from the audience.
