The workshop includes an overview of the latest research as well as hands-on activities highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of Google Translate and alternative technologies. The workshop aims to make participants aware of how students currently use these technologies while also preparing those present to design lessons that focus on the types of language skills that are unlikely ever to be automated.
