#  Department Professional Development Funding 

 



A limited amount of funding is available through the Lincoln Fund to support access to workshops, conferences, courses, summer research, and other activities and resources that help students develop new competencies and skills. All requests are considered and by the Executive Committee.

- [Summer funding requests](https://harvard.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8qRijgcvnTuZDLw) will be reviewed once a year and are due by **February 1.**
- [Conference funding requests](https://harvard.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3wIv9BWSzhuwvQ2) will be reviewed four times a year, and are due September 1, November 1, February 1, and April 1.
- Conference and other funding requests should comprise a comprehensive budget, as well as a one- or two-paragraph rationale that explains how the conference or opportunity in question will help you advance academically.
- **Students are required to have applied to other sources of funding. The Lincoln Fund is meant to be a complementary, not primary, source of funding.**
- **Students will be able to receive up to $5000 from the Lincoln Fund to support summer research and conference travel throughout their PhD.** This is not a guarantee that everyone will receive $5000.
