Research Interests: 20th and 21st century French and Francophone Literature and Theory

Theo Mantion is a PhD Candidate in Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, specializing in 20th-century French and Francophone literature.

His dissertation explores postwar French theory’s materialist approaches to minority literature to account for the formal strategies used by Kateb Yacine, Monique Wittig, and Frankétienne—authors whose works reclaim an absolute right to language and offer emancipatory processes of subjectivation.

His articles have appeared or are forthcoming in L’Esprit Createur, Épistémocritique, AOC.media, La Vie des idées—Collège de France, and En attendant Nadeau. He is the editor of Monique Wittig’s Dans l’arène ennemie. Textes et entretiens 1966-1999 (Éditions de Minuit).
