Research Interests: My primary research interest is on Dante, particularly his mysticism and his reception. Secondarily, I am interested in the American Transcendentalists, especially their knowledge and understanding of Italy. Further afield, I am drawn to Medieval depictions of depression and suicide, metaphysics (of the body, of love, and of poetry), Neoplatonism, numerology, poetic constructions of self, and sociology (of the body and of mysticism).
