Thesis Timeline
Thesis Timeline (2026-27)
For each step, unless otherwise specified, please submit a copy to each of the following:
- Faculty advisor
- Senior tutor
- Cathy Downey
- Kathy Richman
N.B. If you prefer to proceed more quickly than per the calendar below, feel free to submit your work before the deadlines.
Preliminary Prospectus due – with beginning bibliography of primary works (novels, films, poetry, etc.) and any secondary works (critical or theoretical) you think that you might incorporate. The body of the prospectus should include a 4- to 6-page essay and a tentative outline (or organized list, if you prefer) of its different sections. This is a draft, so put down all of your thoughts, then edit out what might not fit. (Do keep these outtakes somewhere in a file!) Please be sure to edit for clarity and organization. One copy to Cathy Downey, one to Kathy Richman, one to your faculty advisor, and one to your senior tutor.
Updated Outline/Prospectus with more developed bibliography due (approximately 12 pages).
First chapter due, unless another due date is set by the faculty advisor.
Second chapter due, unless another due date is set by the faculty advisor.
Third chapter due, unless another due date is set by the faculty advisor.
Complete, penultimate, polished version of thesis (including introduction and conclusion) due for final advisor/senior tutor feedback for revisions, unless another due date is set by the faculty advisor.
Spend the week between now and the March 12 deadline editing for content, clarity, repetition, and flow. Do not add any material after this date.
